How are team ratings calculated?
Our ratings use adjusted efficiency metrics (points per 100 possessions for basketball, expected goals for soccer/hockey) with strength-of-schedule adjustments. Each sport uses a proprietary model calibrated to historical outcomes and updated daily with the latest game results.
How are team ratings different from power rankings?
Traditional power rankings rely on subjective expert opinion. Our ratings are purely model-driven — calculated from advanced statistics with no human bias. They measure true team strength by accounting for opponent quality, pace, home advantage, and other contextual factors.
How do team ratings help with betting?
Team ratings are the foundation of our projection system. By comparing two teams’ adjusted ratings, we project expected scores, spreads, and totals. When these projections differ from the sportsbook lines, it identifies potential betting edges.
How often are ratings updated?
Ratings are recalculated daily after the latest games are processed. During active seasons, you'll see updated ratings each morning reflecting the previous day's results.
