What is a Teaser Bet?
A teaser is a type of parlay where you can adjust the point spread in your favor by 6, 6.5, or 7 points on each leg. In exchange for better spreads, you accept lower payout odds. All legs must win for the teaser to pay out.
NFL Teaser Strategy: The Wong Teaser
The most profitable teaser strategy in NFL is the "Wong Teaser" — crossing through the key numbers 3 and 7. A 6-point teaser on a +1.5 to +7.5 or a -7.5 to -1.5 crosses both 3 and 7, giving you a significant edge.
- +1.5 teased to +7.5 crosses 3 and 7
- +2.5 teased to +8.5 crosses 3 and 7
- -7.5 teased to -1.5 crosses 3 and 7
- -8.5 teased to -2.5 crosses 3 and 7
NBA Teasers
NBA teasers are generally less valuable than NFL teasers because basketball doesn't have the same key numbers. The margin of victory in NBA games is more evenly distributed, making the 6 extra points less impactful.
Teaser Break-Even Win Rates
To profit long-term on teasers, each leg needs to win at a specific rate:
- 2-team teaser at -110: Each leg must win 72.4%
- 3-team teaser at +180: Each leg must win 69.1%
- Only Wong teasers consistently clear these thresholds
